Mystery Ensemble about the programme:
“On this beautiful evening, you will feel like the heroes of Tolkien’s fantastic universe, where elves, orcs, hobbits, and dwarves live! Imagine: a chamber hall, the authentic sound of motifs from the soundtracks… Fabulous, isn’t it? There are rumours that various film composers, having heard The Lord of the Rings in our performance, strenuously began composing soundtracks for other films – hoping that someday we will also perform them! We decided to think about it.
Duration: 75 min (including a 15-minute interval).
Doors open at least 30 minutes before the concert.
Out of respect for guests and performers, late entry may not be permitted. We cannot guarantee your original seats after the concert begins.
Age restriction: 6+
About venue
St Peter’s Church, Parkstone is one of Dorset’s finest Victorian churches, standing at the heart of Lower Parkstone in Poole. Completed in 1881 and later enhanced by the renowned cathedral architect John Loughborough Pearson, the church is a remarkable example of Gothic Revival architecture, celebrated for its elegant proportions and Grade II* listed status.
Inside, the spacious nave is defined by soaring arches, beautifully crafted woodwork, and richly coloured stained-glass windows that fill the church with natural light. The combination of historic craftsmanship and graceful architectural design creates an atmosphere that is both uplifting and intimate, making every visit a memorable experience.
Renowned for its warm and resonant acoustics, St Peter’s provides an exceptional setting for orchestral concerts, chamber ensembles, sacred music, organ recitals, and candlelit performances. The generous proportions of the interior allow sound to resonate with remarkable clarity and depth, creating an immersive listening experience for audiences and performers alike. The church also has a long tradition of hosting concerts and musical events as part of its cultural life.
Located just minutes from Poole Harbour and the award-winning beaches of Sandbanks, St Peter’s Church offers a venue where heritage, architecture, and live music come together — an elegant and atmospheric setting for unforgettable cultural experiences on Dorset’s beautiful south coast.
