Swindled

A brand spanking new band from the North East has emerged and BBC Radio 1 likes them, a lot! Swindled are a five-piece art-pop whirlwind with sky-high harmonies, razor-sharp lyrics, ginger hair, shiny shoes, and synchronised moves you can’t take your eyes off. Their live show is pure theatre - part gig, part spectacle - fuelled by the sheer joy (and occasional chaos) of playing live.
2026 started with tour dates with Reverend and The Makers and 90s legends Dodgy. Their rapid rise continued with a dream appearance at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in their native Wearside following extensive national radio play.
The band, who have already been crowned BBC Introducing’s one’s to watch for 2026 have recently released their latest singled “Loved up and worried."
This release follows the success of their previous single from earlier in the year, “Endless Depression and Sexual Fantasies”, which cemented their growing reputation as a phenomenon in the North East indie music scene.
Both tracks have had multiple airings on BBC Radio 1 which has propelled the profile of the rising regional stars.
Having recently performed a sell-out headlining show at the iconic Glasshouse in Gateshead and two Brighton Great Escape dates, the lads will soon turn their attention to yet more amazing releases and the UK festival summer circuit, appearing at the likes of Kendal Calling and Lindisfarne Festival.
What does the rest of 2026 look like? Expect bigger hooks, sharper edges, and a band charging full tilt towards the toppermost of the poppermost.
