Herts for Refugees Green Team – Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
The Herts for Refugees Engagement Team plays a vital front-facing role at the festival, focusing on raising awareness and encouraging positive action around sustainability. The team operates primarily across the festival site, directly engaging with festivalgoers on the following initiatives:


Waste Management Awareness - General Waste and Recycling: Informing customers about proper waste disposal practices, including the correct use of general waste and recycling bin bags. 
Promoting Responsible Disposal: Encouraging festivalgoers to sort and dispose of waste correctly to reduce contamination and support recycling efforts. 
Cup Return Scheme - Directing customers to return points (10p per cup, can or bottle) and answering queries about how the scheme works. 
Engagement with customers about Green Initiatives: Promoting sustainability initiatives at the festival, and encouraging visitors to learn more or get involved with their campaigns. 
Food Donation Awareness: Informing attendees about opportunities to donate surplus or unopened food items to local organisations such as Feeding IOW, reducing food waste and supporting community needs. 
Tent and Equipment Recovery - Promoting Responsible Camping: Asking customers if they plan to take their tents and camping gear home, helping to reduce waste from abandoned items. 
Abandoned Tents: Identifying tents or equipment that are likely to be left behind.
Monday Morning - Assist customers in taking their tents down if they wish to donate it to Herts for Refugees. 

Exact shift patterns are to be confirmed nearer the festival - each Green Team volunteer will work 3 x 5-hour shifts with a half-hour break each day and will have 1 full day off to enjoy the festival.
