Listening Room is a monthly series presented by Ic3y Mag, held inside Foil Gallery’s immersive listening space. Each session invites guests to experience a full album from beginning to end, together, without distraction.
For this special edition, Curves presents Donuts by J Dilla.
Released on J Dilla’s 32nd birthday just days before his passing in 2006, Donuts stands as one of the most celebrated and influential albums in modern music. Built from a vast collage of soul, funk, jazz, and Motown samples, the record unfolds through 31 short, interconnected pieces that blur the line between beat tape, memoir, and musical experimentation.
What initially feels spontaneous gradually reveals itself as a deeply personal work, filled with joy, nostalgia, humor, and reflection. Nearly two decades later, Donuts continues to inspire producers, musicians, and listeners around the world, remaining a landmark achievement in sample-based music.

No latecomers will be admitted once the session has started.

We kindly ask guests to make their way out promptly after their session, as the space is reserved exclusively for the listening experience and will be prepared for the next group.
