Hayao Miyazaki's Dreams by Mystery Ensemble

✨A unique concert will take place on the 19 of August at the striking Guildford Cathedral, which stands proudly above Guildford on Stag Hill.

The Miyazaki Dreams concert is an immersion in the fabulous atmosphere of the anime of the world-famous Japanese director and Oscar winner Hayao Miyazaki. Mystery Ensemble has collected magical music from his anime and compositions inspired by his creations.

The evening programme includes renowned works composed by ingenious Joe Hisaishi, including My Neighbour Totoro, the legendary anime Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Laputa: Castle in the Sky and others. The programme also includes works by other composers inspired by Miyazaki’s artworks.

Musical themes will transport viewers into the atmosphere of famous anime stories and introduce brave heroines, magical creatures, and characters inspired by Japanese folklore.

This concert is part of a series of immersive musical experiences created by Red Events & Distribution Ltd., known for their exceptional cultural events in historic mansions, on scenic rooftops, in botanical greenhouses, and other atmospheric venues across the UK, Europe, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and beyond. Their repertoire includes candlelit concerts and fully immersive performances with video art and spatial sound design.

About venue
Guildford Cathedral stands proudly above the town on Stag Hill, its striking silhouette visible across the Surrey landscape. Completed in 1961, the Cathedral is one of the few cathedrals built in England during the 20th century, blending modern architectural vision with timeless spiritual grandeur.

Constructed from warm local sandstone and handmade bricks, the Cathedral’s design is characterised by elegant simplicity, soaring lines, and an extraordinary sense of light and openness. Inside, the spacious nave, slender columns, and luminous stained-glass windows create an atmosphere that feels both contemporary and deeply contemplative.

Renowned for its exceptional acoustics, Guildford Cathedral provides an inspiring setting for orchestral concerts, sacred music, organ recitals, and immersive candlelit performances. The balanced proportions of the interior allow sound to resonate with remarkable clarity and warmth, enhancing both intimate chamber works and large-scale symphonic programmes.

Founded in 2021, our contemporary music studio has grown rapidly, with over 40 shows in the UK in its first year. Our founder, Almin Alexander, has devoted more than 12 years to the music industry and the development of cultural initiatives worldwide, working with many outstanding musicians and musical groups.

The ensemble’s repertoire contains an incredible amount of music. There is also the unique music of Enigma and Enya, combined with neoclassical music, world rock hits, and tributes to the legendary Michael Jackson, Queen, and the Beatles. For lovers of the classics, the ensemble collection includes music by W.A. Mozart, J.S. Bach, L.V. Beethoven, R. Wagner, I. Strauss, P.I. Tchaikovsky, S.V. Rachmaninov, and other key composers. And much more. Every month, the studio releases new programs and updates the existing repertoire.
