Boisdale, Canary Wharf · Cabot Place, London
Table reservations from 6pm | Live Music: 9pm
“The Greatest Lovers Rock Album of All Time.” - MOJO Magazine
When Hopelessly in Love arrived in 1981, it did more than give Lovers Rock one of its essential albums. It helped fix the sound in people’s lives: London reggae softened by soul, basslines made for close dancing and songs that carried heartbreak without turning theatrical.
Carroll Thompson performs music from the album that made her known as the Queen of Lovers Rock, including "I’m So Sorry", "Simply in Love", "Happy Song" and "Hopelessly in Love". These are not just catalogue favourites. They are part of the language of British reggae, passed through blues dances, house parties, radio dedications and generations of listeners who still know every line.
Thompson’s standing goes beyond one landmark record. As a singer, songwriter, arranger and composer, she has worked with artists including Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Sade, Pet Shop Boys, B.B. King and Annie Lennox, while remaining one of Lovers Rock’s most respected voices.
