They stayed in touch over the years and discovered a shared love for smooth jazz. Recently, they made the decision to collaborate on a smooth jazz project. Their first single, Phunkin 4 Phun, is available now on all streaming platforms. Both artists have enjoyed professional music careers spanning more than 20 years. C. Richaude Dorsey is a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Raised in a home where both parents were notable musicians and vocalists, his foundation was built early. His love for smooth jazz began in childhood, heavily influenced by David Sanborn, Nancy Wilson, and later Ben Tankard. That Gulf Coast diligence and polish is evident in every note he plays. Drei Hurd is a native of San Francisco, California with strong Mississippi roots a connection that explains the soul and flavor in his music. His style blends smooth jazz with gospel, jazz, and R&B influences from the communities he grew up in. His primary influences include Robert Glasper and many others who bridge the gap between sacred and secular sound. Its only fitting that the two coined their collaboration Best of Both Worlds. It represents exactly what they bring: West Coast creativity meets Mississippi soul, virtuosity meets pocket, and 20+ years of diligence meets undeniable groove.
